I’ve been using iPhone 2g running 1.1.4 unlocked and jailbreaked using Ziphone / iPlus. Buggy firmware 2.0 has been stopping me from upgrading. But finally after firmware 2.1 release, I’m convinced and upgraded. Its very simple process.

This process supports 2.1 firmware with the unlocking and jailbreaking of iPhone 1st generation (2G) device. Supports the jailbreaking of iPod Touch 1st generation device and iPhone 3G.

• - It does NOT support the unlocking of iPhone 3G
• - It does NOT support the jailbreaking of second generation iPod Touch introduced last week

Earthscape is an incredible iPhone application that brings Google-earth to the iPhone which allows users to explore the planet in 3D and learn more about it by clicking on city names or over 300,000 geotagged Wikipedia links. It’ is normally sold for 10$ pricetag, but now for limited time its FREE. Earthscape Basic is available through the app store for the iPhone.

Earthscape puts a little globe in your pocket that you can spin around and zoom in to  specific locations. It shows where you are based on your GPS coordinates, highlights  locations with Wikipedia entries (and lets you read those entries as well) and flickr photos. Users can also take their own photos and add them to the application’s database.

iphonethememaker.com is an interesting iPhone Theme Creation site, which lets you design your own iphone theme.

You can choose your favorite icons, desktop wallpaper, status bar, dock, etc. You can either upload your own pictures, wallpapers, icons from collection or choose from the existing gallery. It lets you preview the theme as your building. Once you’re done customizing the theme, click on the Compile theme button to create your theme. You can download a zip file and distribute or the site provides you an URL for download too. Pretty cool… try it here.
