All the Norton applications including Norton Antivirus , Internet Security , 360 and others integrate closely with the operating system and often leave huge foot print on the system when uninstalled from Add/Remove programs. Sometimes, it make it harder to install newer Antivirus products also. To fix all these issues, use Norton Removal tool.

Use the Norton Removal Tool to remove a failed installation or a damaged Norton product. Finally, I migrated Firefox 2.0 to Firefox 3.0.1 on my home laptop. It’s been a long wait, but now I’m able to use all my Firefox 2.0 add-ons and my complete profile settings including passwords, cookies, bookmarks, history, extensions, settings etc. At work, I’ve been using Firefox 3 Portable already.

My Mozilla Firefox 2.0 installation exists in Program files. I had taken backup of everything with ease to use MozBackup tool. But the best part was, while installing Firefox 3.01, it asked me where my existing installation was and it has taken care of everything including the browser tabs that were open in firefox 2.0

MozBackup is a simple utility for creating backups of Mozilla Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, Mozilla Sunbird, Flock, SeaMonkey, Mozilla Suite, Spicebird and Netscape profiles. It allows you to backup and restore bookmarks, mail, contacts, history, extensions, cache etc. It’s an easy way to do Firefox backup, Thunderbird backup. This program is freeware and works on Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista.

Before migrating to a new version, run MozBackup before you install new version of Firefox or new extensions that are in development. Your backed up profile lets you rollback easily and use on newer version.

If you purchased a new desktop or laptop, you’d have noticed a number of trialware and crap software’s loaded as part of the factory build. The application PC Decrapifier will uninstall many of the common trialware and annoyances found on many of the PCs from big name manufactures.

Here is the current list of software and items that the PC Decrapifier can detect and remove. You get to see the list of items it detects and then choose what will be removed automatically.

Simply download the file. Open up the zip file and run the EXE. There is no installer necessary. If you have anti-virus software installed, it may complain about this program because it is written with a scripting language. These warnings can be safely ignored.

Sysinternals, now a part of Microsoft has released Desktops v1.0. This lets you get organized and can result in increased productivity too.  Desktops allows you to organize  your applications on up to four virtual desktops. Read email on one, browse the web on the second, and do work in your productivity software on the third.

You configure hotkeys for switching desktops, you can create and switch desktops either by clicking on the tray icon to open a desktop preview and switching window, or by using the hotkeys.

Microsoft Office Labs has launched a new product called E-mail Prioritizer that will sort through your in-box to figure out what’s important. Not only that, it’ll also let you stop all your incoming mail for certain pre defined time. It’s more like a Do not disturb status on your emails.

Requirements: It’ll only work with requires Outlook 2007 running on Exchange Server.

From Office labs ‘Email Prioritizer is a plug-in for Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 (running on Exchange Server) that helps you manage email overload. This concept test provides a “do not disturb” button that temporarily pauses new email arrival, and prioritizes email with a 0-3 star rating system.’
